Granite bases for grave vases and lanterns

Granite bases for vases and lanterns

A granite base for a headstone creates a visual transition between the accessory and the headstone slab. It can emphasise the shape of the vase or lantern and help tie its colour in with the other stone accessories. At StoneOnline, the bases are intended primarily for specific models of vases and lanterns — compatibility should be checked before purchase.

Round or square base?

It is worth matching the base shape to the product’s footprint and the style of the headstone. A round form gently complements curving vases and lanterns, while a square one can underline a more geometric look. The exact dimensions are key: a base that is too small will not provide proper proportions, whereas one that is too large may needlessly take up space on the slab.

Matching the granite

The base can be made from stone similar to the vase or lantern, or create a deliberate contrast with the headstone. Natural granite may vary in shade and grain, so even elements with the same variant name are not always identical. When planning a set, it is worth comparing all of its components.

Dimensions and installation

Before ordering, measure the space on the headstone and calculate the total height of the set including the base. The fixing method depends on the specific product and the substrate. Not every base serves as a technical mounting element, so follow the information provided on the chosen model’s product page. Ready-made vase or lantern sets with a base make it easier to select compatible components.
